Free Halloween/Fall Number Mats
Hey there! Here are some free Halloween / Fall themed number mats 1 to 20.
Students read the number, build the number using objects and write 1 more than the number.
With Fall or Halloween Parties coming up, students tend to be distracted by the excitement of the festivities. This is a great way to continue math instruction and have students practice 1:1 correspondence and cardinality skills while keeping them engaged.
How to Use
There are 4 number mats that focus on the same skills:
- counting up to 20 objects by using a counting strategy (sliding, touching, lining objects up or putting the objects in a cup as you count)
- saying 1 number name as each object is touched
- saying how many objects counted
- identifying numbers 1 to 20
- writing numerals
- writing and showing 1 more
Whew! That’s a lot of skills students learn while engaging in this activity.
When I use these activities, I put them in a math bin/center. By having so many options, I can switch out the activity while having students continue to work on the same skills.
Number Mat#1: Pumpkin Counting
Students place the pumpkins or objects to match the number and write 1 more.
Number Mat #2: Candy Bag Counting
Students place the candy corn or objects to match the number and write 1 more.
My kinder friends loved this activity last year!
Number Mat #3: Pumpkins in the Basket
Students build the number on the card using pumpkins.
Number Mat #4: Spider Mat Counting
Students build the numbers using spiders or math manipulatives.
