End-of-the-Year Memory Book {Free Printables!}
Hello there! I’m writing a blog post to give you a FREE End-of-the-Year Memory Book.
I am always thinking about what I can give my students to commemorate our year together. Some of my students’ first schooling experience is in kindergarten so I always want to provide them with something that reflects their experiences and individuality. So, memory book it is!
What is a Memory Book?
A memory book is an opinion book that contains remembrances of key experiences. Memory books are easy to make, to maintain, and are a perfect memento. You can look back at it when you are older as it reveals a bit about yourself!
Making a Memory Book
To make a memory book, you just need blank paper, a pencil, and crayons. That’s it!
First, we pick a topic. It could be “My Favorite Lunch” or “My Favorite Field Trip.” Then, I have my students brainstorm a list of ideas surrounding that topic. This is a very important step, as some students may forget some activities or events we participated in during the year that they would want to write about in their book. I record what they say and post it so they can see it. Last, I send them back to their seats to write and draw. We do a page a day until we have a book full of memories (it’s usually between 5 – 8 pages).
I also include an autograph page so students can get their friends to sign their books.
To accommodate your students’ writing abilities, there are several differentiated writing pages.
Let me know in the comments section how you commemorate the end of a school year!
Happy Teaching!
