End of the Year Activities

Well, we’ve made it to June so that means that it’s time to plan for the end of the year. If you are like me, you are teaching students partially in-person and virtually at-home. These activities can be used for both groups of students.

This year, I have thrown virtual Valentine’s Day, 100th Day of School and Thanksgiving. Digital games are a perfect solution to celebrate an event that’s engaging, interactive and gets students moving.

Scavenger Hunt

I don’t know how many scavenger hunts I did this year! I think I lost count. My students love scavenger hunts. They can search the classroom or their homes and share what they found.

Students love to share facts about themselves. With this activity, students write or type their favorite things.

Zoom In!

Students look at a zoomed in photograph and guess what the whole picture could be. The only need a whiteboard / dry erase marker or sheet of paper and pencil to complete this activity.

Directed Drawing

Students love directed drawing activities. You can go on YouTube and find tons of directed drawing activities. My students love Art For Kids Hub website.

Freeze Dance

Get your students moving with freeze dance. It’s a fun listening activity and the poses that students make when they have to freeze is priceless!

Would You Rather?

Get to know your students using this fun physical activity. Students answer the question, “would you rather” by jumping and wiggling.

Charades

I have a few thespians in my class! Charades is always a class hit. With a partner or independently, they act out a scenario of your choosing.

When do I use these activities?

For longer activities, such as a scavenger hunt or zoom in, I carve out about 20 – 30 minutes of our schedule to incorporate these activities. For shorter activities, such as Would You Rather, we do these activities during morning meeting. It really doesn’t matter when you do it, just make sure you have time for your students to enjoy them!

Memory Book

Memory books are a great way to get your student reflecting on how the past year went. They share their favorite subjects, friends and even collect autographs.

Grab this free differentiated memory book.

I have another free memory book too!

You can make these activities for yourself, but I’ve done the heavy lifting for you already.

Grab these activities here.

What are some other end of the year activities you do? Let me know in the comment section below.

Happy Teaching!
