Use These Writing Prompts To Discuss Earth Day

I’m writing a quick blog post to share Earth Day writing prompts as well as Earth Day decor for your bulletin boards.

I love opinion writing and Earth Day is a great opportunity to engage students in discussions and activities about how to make Earth a better place.

How to Take Care of Earth

On Earth Day, we always share ways we can take care of our planet. We start off by sharing what we know about Earth and dive into different texts that teaches us about the planet.

I love Epic books! They have a lot of Earth Day books for you to read to your students. They also offer free subscriptions for teachers.

I just did a simple “earth day” search and Epic generated a list of 100+ books, videos, and audiobooks to choose from.

Write about Earth Day

Here are some writing prompts you can use to encourage students to reflect on actionable goals they can take to care for Earth.

Here are the Writing Prompts topics:

  1. I can help Earth – actions

  3. I can help Earth – reduce
  4. I can help Earth – reuse
  5. I can help Earth – saving energy

There’s a class book cover page just in case you want to compile your students’ writing and put in the library for future use.

I also included a coloring picture of Earth as well as a banner that reads “Earth Day Leaders”. You can have students color in the picture and decorate your bulletin board with their work.
